The other day I was walking in the woods that occupy a third of my yard for the first time in a very long while, and I came across this tree. I’m not sure when it fell. I’m leaning most strongly towards Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The other possibility is a waterspout that came on land in our area a few years later. What really interests me, though, is what the tree did after it fell. Apparently the half of the roots that stayed in the ground were enough to keep it going. Three limbs in the middle, and one at the end, have grown straight up and are now spawning new branches of their own, looking like four new trees. It got pushed down in a rough moment, but it adapted and persisted.
Oh, I love that David. It’s incredible. And the photo is beautiful.
A third of my yard is woods too. Do you have any snakes?

Thank you very much; glad you like it.
We have a few snakes, yes. Fortunately we don’t see them very often. Do you?

My pleasure. I really like the picture. Yes, there is a lake by and in the summer there are water moccasins all over. They come in the back veranda too π
Have a lovely evening David and stay safe.

“They come in the back veranda too” That would be way too close for comfort for me. I’d have the creeps.
You have a lovely evening as well!
