To the farmer watching from the hillside, the old steam engine appeared to drag its coach across empty ground instead of pulling it along a disused branch line. He didn’t know the untamed grass and kudzu had rendered an ancient set of rails invisible. The engine’s wheels slipped more often than not as the greenery prevented them making contact with the rails, but it slithered forward a yard at a time, clanking and hissing all the while. The farmer scratched his head as he watched the train laboriously tilling its way across the field. What made him run from the spot like a startled squirrel, however, was when the train randomly decided to veer left towards him.
