Julrane idly sketched the interior of Gulfia’s abandoned lighthouse, trying to determine the arrangement of mirrors that would give the most light. She had never heard the lighthouse mentioned in her visits to the Tunnels, but something in her blood told her the two were connected, and she felt an increasing pull to discover the connection. There was something she was supposed to do that required that information, but what she was supposed to do was a blank spot.
Aliphaz was nearby, cataloging Julrane’s recent crops.
“Aliphaz, do you believe a person can still fulfill their destiny without knowing what their destiny is, or would one know what their destiny was if it were truly their destiny?”
Aliphaz didn’t stop working, but there was authority in his voice when he answered.
“A person pursuing their destiny is like a fish that needs to follow a certain ocean current to reach its proper dwelling place. If the fish gives itself to the current and does not exit the stream, the current will move the fish in the appropriate direction even though the fish does not know the way.”
Yay! Jurlane again. What a pleasure. And this:
““Aliphaz, do you believe a person can still fulfill their destiny without knowing what their destiny is, or would one know what their destiny was if it were truly their destiny?” Brilliant David. But then I am sure the entire book is brilliant.

Thank you, thank you. I hoped you would like this one. You are too generous! I’m thinking of converting this scene and a few others into poetry, since I want to do a book of narrative poems and I want it to be centered on Julrane’s experiences. What are your thoughts?

I think this is a brilliant idea. It will be a great book of prose poems or narrative poems that will get your name out there. That may help. You know what I am saying.
I love this idea 😊

“You know what I am saying.” I do, and I am grateful for the confirmation. I’ll be making a renewed start on that project very, very soon. Thank you again.
